The major of land management in Zhejiang University was founded in 1987 and was among the earliest ones in China. In 1999 and 2002, the discipline of land management was authorized the degree conferral right for M.S. course and PhD course respectively. It was further evaluated as the key discipline of Zhejiang Province in 2009.
The Department of Land Management offers two majors: Land Use and Management and Urban and Real Estate Management. Both majors are ranked within the top ones in China.
(1) Students in land use and management are required to take the courses of land survey and assessment, cadastration, land use planning, land readjustment, real estate appraisal, computer cartography, remote sensing and GIS analysis. Students are also trained with basic professional knowledge of laws, management science, economics, and policy science, so that they are qualified to develop both scientific research and practical work in land use and management.
(2) Students in urban and real estate management are required to take the courses of regional and urban planning, urban land use and management, city competitive power analysis, feasibility analysis of construction projects, real estate investment and planning, real estate development and project management. Students are also trained with basic professional knowledge of management science, economics, and policy science, so that they are qualified to develop both scientific research and practical work in urban and real estate management.
